This course is taught by Certified Starguard Instructors. Participants will complete a Starfish Aquatics Institute Lifeguarding course. Students learn
aquatic rescues, CPR and how to use an AED. Registration does not guarantee certification. Students must demonstrate proper skills as well as pass a written test.
Students must be able to swim 200 yards as a prerequisite. Completion of this class is required for new lifeguards seeking employment with the Village of Glendale
Heights, but does not guarantee placement. This course is also appropriate for those seeking recertification at another establishment which accepts Starguard
Certification.
Classes are offered in May and June. Detailed class information can be found in the summer program guide.
