Who has the spookiest house in Glendale Heights? Registration for the house decorating contest is FREE and open to all Glendale Heights residents. Registration is open from October 1 through October 19. Once registered, your home will be featured on the event website for the public to view and admire your hard work.
Voting opens October 22, allowing anyone to choose their favorite house. Awards will be presented to the top three most creatively decorated homes, with winners announced on Halloween. Get ready to show off your Halloween spirit and compete for the top spot!
The Village of Glendale Heights is excited to offer self-guided tours of the Historic House on the fourth Saturday of every month this summer! Stop by any time between 10:00 am and noon to take a step back in time. Originally built in 1888, this community treasure was donated by Merle Reskin in 1999 to help share the rich history of our village.
The Glendale Heights Police Department encourages children to trick-or-treat down the streets of Safety Town on October 31, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
Stop by Safety Town and trick-or-treat at this family-friendly event! There will be friendly ghosts and goblins, fairies and witches, and other characters to treat each child. Children should bring a container or bag to collect candy.
Decorate a holiday card for our military to show your appreciation! Cards can be dropped off to one of the collection boxes located at any Village facility before Thursday, December 4.
Rules to follow when creating your card:

- Do not put the cards in an envelope
- Do not include any personal information such as your name, address or social media
The Glendale Heights Christmas Sharing program helps give back to those families in need during the holiday season! We understand the importance of the holidays and the challenges that many families face each and every day. Christmas Sharing giving trees with wished for items on ornaments will be available at Village Hall, the Linda Jackson Center for Senior Citizens and the Sports Hub as we try to give back to those in need.
Important Christmas Sharing Dates:
- Christmas Sharing Trees are put up on Saturday, November 1
- Gift drop off deadline is Sunday, November 30

The Village of Glendale Heights invites the community to a Veterans Day Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park beginning at 11:00 am. The program includes a formal Flag and Color Guard presentation, a rifle salute, and a moving tribute to our fallen warriors. This annual ceremony provides an opportunity for residents to come together and honor the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country.
Deck the halls and start the season with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony! This year, the event returns to Village Hall. Attendees can stay warm in the Council Chamber while enjoying performances by local choirs, sipping hot chocolate and visiting our local organizations that will have fun activities.
At 7:15 pm, the Mayor and Board of Trustees will be joined by Mr. and Mrs. Claus to flip the magic switch and light up Glendale Heights!
Experience the charm of a Victorian Christmas at the Historic House. Tour the Historic House decorated for the season while also enjoying festive activities including sipping hot chocolate, visiting Glendale Heights’ own Christkindl Market, and taking a ride on the horse-drawn carriage. This classic holiday event can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Visit the Glendale Lakes Golf Club as Mr. and Mrs. Claus fly through the sky in a helicopter to join us for breakfast! This event gives every little girl and boy the chance to take a photo with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and tell them what they want for Christmas. While you wait for your turn to see Santa, enjoy an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast. No pre-registration is required. Cash and card is accepted.

Photos with Santa: $3 each
Decorate a Valentine’s Day card for our veterans to show your appreciation! All valentines will be delivered to Illinois Veterans Homes and Veterans Hospitals before the holiday. Valentines can be dropped off to one of the collection boxes located at any Village facility between Monday, January 5 and Wednesday, February 4.
